influence does not necessarily mean positive.

A lot of people believe the world is fukked up and the fact that Christianity and Islam are the two largest leading religions in such a fukked world is very telling.

There has definitely been plenty of negative things to come out of religion. There has also been plenty of good that has been done. I think what it comes down to is people manipulating religion and these religious texts in a way to push their own agendas/propaganda other than to just promote people to be good citizens.
