It's sad when you're on a quest and never had a father to guide you

i talk to black men in the streets all the time to help me with my journey and I have to take everything they say with a grain of salt. My pops was way smarter from what I know and heard. He died like 5 years ago and I wish I could of picked his brain back then.

Sorry for your loss.

Fortunately, I had/have a father who was able to guide me as a child so that as an adult I would be a productive member of society. For those of us who were fortunate to have our fathers,we all dread the day we get the bad news that they have passed away.I don't know what I would do.

this rings true for me a lot recently. i have a father but i couldn't imagine not having someone to go to for advice about things :francis:
I had/have a father and a stepfather....but this was a constant reality growing up. It was like I was literally a lost child who somehow had parents. Because of it, my childhood years were my DARKEST....

Extremely damaging....

My father and grandfather were around to give me nuggets to hold onto but the world itself further refined and gave more meaning to their words through the things I had to go through growing up. Lost both of them early and I had to learn mostly on my own, taking many wounds.. But I don't regret it, it's made me stronger, if not somewhat cold and much wiser. I'm sorry to hear about some of the brehs statements in here but..

Get and stay lifted brehs..

Real shyt. I think I'm actually grieving my fathers death for the first time like 8 years later. I imagine if pops was around I would be at least 3 years ahead of where I am now and I'd understand how to be a man.

Still working on being a man tho. Not a lil bytch or anything but with all these things and ppl just as lost as we are telling us why it means to be a man, it's hard to really chose. Sucks in the black community there's such an extreme. It's either very Christian advice or the wrong advice.
