I always thought you needed a deep fryer but nope. Get a pot, put about 1 - 2 inches of oil (olive oil is the healthiest). Let it boil and put in the potatos

Make sure they're russet potatoes. Skin them, cut them into strips, rinse off any left over dirt. Then season them with a little salt and pepper. Fry them for a good 10 - 15 minutes to get them crispy.

Now give me my rep for showing you brehs and brehettes how make fries.

DO NOT USE OLIVE OIL FOR THIS TASK! Not only is it a waste of money, olive oil has a low smoke point which means the flavour and fragrance disintegrates at high temperatures. Use a neutral oil like vegetable, sunflower or canola oil.

I love French fries but I've only made it once :ohhh:

Good thread OP
Learn to cook my guy, it's the best. I just started making my own tomato sauce from paste and add in my own herbs with olive oil and it comes out better than the sugary garbage you buy in the store.

A can of paste and crushed tomatoes cost like what 1.25 cents together. Fresh herbs. Onion garlic? Mad cost effective. Then you can stretch the thickness and fill a few jars

You add a sprinkle of sugar to your taste.

The World, but from BK
anyone know how to make good air fryer fries? the times I tried, they were :trash:

I do it all the time. I let the potatoes sit in warm water for like an hour in a closed bowl before I cook them, just to make the potatoes softer and cook a little faster.
Cut them up in a bowl with the skin on them. I put maybe 5 caps full (the cap top for the oil) of oil in the bowl and rub the oil on the fries. Then throw them in the air fryer. Let them cook for about 45mins, it might seem kinda long if you got nothing else to do. But between the time move the fries around and try to spread them out.

Season the fries when they are about 95% done. In my opinion seasoning from the get-go makes them go dry much quicker when cooking them. I tend to use pepper and pink salt.

I make enough for like 3-4 people every time, using about 6-8 potatoes.

I really can't remember the last time I bought frozen fries, but it had to be at least 6 yrs ago.

You forgot to blanche them :smh:
And cool before prefrying for 50 seconds and allowing them to cool for an additional 30 minutes before deep frying them for 3-5 minutes for maximal crunch
