Before I Self Destruct was better than Curtis album cut wise to me, the singles were just weak

Strong Enough is my sh!t. I only like maybe 4 songs on that entire album...that's bad. The production is terrible, imo. And the lack of subject matter was more apparent than it usually is with 50.

the production was stale at the time, but you're definitely wrong about the subject matter. the album is about bitterness and his deteriorating personal relationships with his son, baby mama, Dre,buck & game and his fukked up life coming up.

I'd say Curtis wasn't really about anything. BISD definitely had a theme and subject matter. The Massacre didn't have a theme either.

The invitation = 187 bang bang

Death to my enemies = 187 bang bang. Fire tho

Psycho = 187 bang bang

Hold me down = 187 bang bang. At least
here tho he had a concept…as overdone ( Gun = Person) and stale as it is.

Crime Wave = 187 bang bang. Fire tho

Stretch = I sell drugs. Fire tho

Strong Enough = 187 bang bang. Fire tho

Get it hot = fukk bytches

Gangstas Delight = 187 bang bang

I got swag = fukk bytches, I’m rich

Baby by me = I’m rich

Do you think about me = Girl song. Good tho

Etc…

I mean, 50 is my guy forever…but he is probably the most shallow/basic superstar beloved rapper ever when it comes to subject matter lol

I'm probably the only one on Earth who liked Ayo Technology :heh: Great Timberland beat, sounded like some futuristic sci fi beat :pachaha:

Then again the Booth hates Forever Young from Jay when its a popular song IRL :mjlol:

I feel like I like more songs from Curtis than BISD so the album isn't that bad to me :manny:

A lot of folks will say that The Massacre was trash but it really wasn't. Not all of it worked, but it was still the core 50/Aftermath sound and generated a lot of hits. After Curtis, 50 lost that credibility with the average listener. He couldn't scale his music to the popularity he was trying to sustain. He should've never went on a media campaign against Kanye and "soft" rap. That was a new interesting thing emerging and he tried to fight the wave, which never works.

2006 killed him with "One Blood" Remix and the rap game basically moving on from him.

Then 50 thought that he is better than the entire DJ Khaled movement because he has Eminem in his corner :heh: . That killed Banks and Yayo's mainstream career by alienating them from making money in rap.

The same time, Eminem goes to rehab for 2 years and practically doesn't see the light of day till early 2009. :dead: No Eminem = relationships in the industry going sour.

What didnt help by 2007, Kanye was on the verge of being a MUSIC icon, while Fif was spiraling downhill after Camron sonned him on "Curtis" :bryan:

All those factors and 50 had to drop 6 singles for a buzz, only for him to go to #2 on the billboards.

Man down
still kill
i get money
movin on up
straight to the bank
curtis 187
touch the sky
smile (bonus)
my gun go off
all of me

out of 17 tracks that are there (excluding intro), these are good tracks.

but percentage wise thats just 60% or 6/10, and some of these aren't 10/10 so if we went song by song...

album does get a lot of hate though.
Didn't like amusement park? Album has some decent songs but I like the massacre better than this one
