Uncertain grounds
These rankings are ridiculous. Working in the US is as bad as Iraq and Iran? :russ:

Italy is a 1? It is great to work there..but there are very few jobs available there. My cousins over there are always complaining about their economy and lack of jobs for people of all ages and abilities...and it doesnt mean there arent rights violations there...Italians just dont really give a fukk about law and going to court.

Perhaps you should read the PDF and criteria :mjpls:

Perhaps I did and it was about collective workers rights and human rights in general. Can you explain how Iraq and Iran are just as good as US? How many unions and collective bargaining agreements are there in those countries? :sas2:
Admittedly I can't because I know nothing about their economies :sas1:

Fresno, CA.

I'll give a real response later, but for now, here are my knee jerk reactions.

Governments and business that allow or perpetrate oppression of workers cannot hide.

The ITUC Global Rights Index covers violations in 139 countries recorded over
the past 12 months (April 2013- March 2014). The methodology is grounded in
standards of fundamental rights at work, in particular the right to freedom of association, the right to collective bargaining and the right to strike.2
These rights are based on international human rights law3 which we have spelled out in the form of
97 indicators in order to translate narrative text into numerical ratings. Countries
are then rated in clusters from 1-5 depending on their compliance with collective
labour rights. The level of economic development, size or location of the country is
not taken into account given that fundamental rights are universal and workers in
all parts of the world must have access to them.

A high rated cluster means that workers in the country have no right to their collective voice due to government
failure to guarantee rights.
:why::camby:

Finally, we believe the ITUC Global Rights Index will serve as a useful monitoring
tool for policy makers and socially responsible investors.

I would say 4 is about right. I once worked at a place where the ceo always had reasons on why the company couldn't give out raises every year.
