Unless you're one of the top guys i.e. Kendrick, Drake, Cole ect. you can't tell me rap money is really going to support you nowadays. If you're a 2nd or 3rd tier rapper buzzing on the internet with singles that are getting lots of clicks or street buzz...that doesn't necessarily translate to dollars. Even streams don't really allow you to eat like that. Tour money and club appearances aren't as often as you'd like to think and even after you split it with management and whoever else you have to pay, I just don't get the impression that it's really a viable means of supporting yourself for the long haul. Rap money has always been funny in the light unless you're getting major spins and on a major tour. Most of these new guys have 360 deals or are signed to multiple labels and have to split their piece of the pie many ways before they see their cut. Indie or Major, it all seems the same to me. Are these rapper guys making money or just stuntin' short term living it up while they can?

Stuntin short term

Someone did the math on it, and they found that a few years ago when Chief Keef was on, he made about as much as a dentist. Like $200k a year. That's still good money, but considering that most rappers are only on for 2-3 years and it begins to dry up after that, it's kind of fukked up. Unless a mid level rapper takes that money and invests it, by their 40's they'll be fukked. It's already happened to some artists from the older generation unfortunately.

Rappers book a lot of shows. It's not that hard to figure out, this isn't some secret. Wiz stays on the road and he's basically a pop artist now
