We've been taught a lot of lies as men. Buy flowers on the first date, being a gentlemen is the best way to go. Happy wife, happy life.

Could a man being happy in marriage a lie too? :to:

It is hard for a hard working man to be happy and respected in his own home?

The Evans' lives were fukked up in general, James was just trying to put food on the table. He was a real nikka, I wouldn't say he was a square. Carl was a square but he had money and outside of Urkel, his home was pretty happy. Uncle Phil was cool, he was rich af and his wife was bad (dark-skinned aunt Viv was fine as hell to me)

The more applicable quote would be from Common "He had a good gig, a wife, a kid, a decent home/One reason or another couldn't find peace at home""
