"J. Cole’s album 2014 Forest Hills Drive is not officially out yet, but it’s already sparking controversy. On the leaked track “Fire Squad,” the North Carolina rapper calls out some famous white artists for appropriating black culture.

“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes / Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows / Same thing that my ni**a Elvis did with rock ‘n’ roll / Justin Timberlake, Eminem, and then Macklemore,” raps Cole, who appeared on the remix to Timberlake’s “TKO.”

He also has some words for Iggy Azalea, who beat Eminem and Drake for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist at this year’s American Music Awards.

“While silly ni**as argue over who gon’ snatch the crown / Look around my ni**a, white people have snatched the sound / This year I’ll probably go to the awards dappered down / Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”

He’s quick to add, “I’m just playin’, but all good jokes contain true shyt / Same rope you climb up on, they’ll hang you with.”

Fans took to Twitter to react and debate. Some sided with Cole, while others defended their favorite artist.

J. Cole’s third album 2014 Forest Hills Drive arrives in stores and online on December 9.

Where do you stand? Weigh in below."

He didn't lie though..

All Cole is saying is basically what everyone else was saying back in January when Macklemore cleaned up the entire Grammys. Only now, he's saying it well after the fact when people aren't passionate about it anymore.

Plus, let's keep it real. Macklemore blew up last year and won everything. This year, it's Iggy blowing up and winning everything. It it jealousy? It might be. Is it the white rapper's fault? Not necessarily, but that's the industry. Rappers like Eminem, Mac Miller, Yelawolf and even Macklemore seem to acknowledge that. It's mostly the white hip hop fans who don't.

Is he faulting them?

No, but the point I'm trying to make is that everyone is making it seem like he is when all he's saying is what the industry does. Macklemore even has a song called "White Privilege", so I don't understand the outrage.

The outrage usually comes from a nikka not stating the same ol same ol. When a nikka talks about shooting someone that's fine, but let him touch on a sensitive topic like race, then its an uproar.

This is truth. Besides. Out of any fan base that should be taking this in stride is Eminem fans. They LIVE for controversy, unless it's directed to Em. Anything that could be considered negative that has Em's name attached to it they flip out. But Em can write about Ray Ricing Lana Del Rey and raping Iggy Azalea all in the name of entertainment, and they defend him by saying "It's just music!"

Then if it's just music, then Cole deserves that same benefit of the doubt. But I see the game here.

The thing that gets me is that... Even Eminem and Macklemore have said the same things themselves. :snoop:

lol so it's ok for them to do it, but not ok to talk about it?

this all sounds healthy to me, even if it is uncomfortable for some folks.
