So now the topic is what people thought of Reasonable Doubt in 96. Pretty sure that one hasn’t been discussed!
These dudes gotta be retarded talking about the same shyt over and over

There's dudes that already dead ass have hundreds of posts over the life of this forum discussing that very same topic

Tm101 is a certified classic That album introduced up north nikkas to that trap shyt. You saw that snowman tee everywhere at one point.

And you actually like the massacre and that came around the same time as tm101 you like that era so you equate it to classics as well.

N4L was the most polished produced album ever. Crisp sound, dope rhymes. It was like a movie. Dre's best work ever.. Maybe the DOC album is better but not by much... IMO

TM101 and Purple Haze were hands down the 2 most played albums by all of the crew in school. everyone knew every track damn near front 2 bak. Didn't even have to worry about it going missing out the deck or binder cause we all had them:russ:

TM101 was what I tested my whip on right after I got my speakers n sub :ohlawd:

TM101 stayed in my whip from the day it released until 2006

Might’ve been the last physical CD I actually bought

It is…and it’s impact is far greater than a lot of albums that I, and many others think are of better quality.

Impact doesn’t necessarily mean quality.

Liquor Swords or reasonable doubt, had about zero impact, but is TM101, or GRODT a better album?

Impact wise it’s arguably top 10, up there with The Chronic, 36 Chambers, RTD, fear of a black planet, straight outta Compton.

However, it’s impact seems to be limited to the early 2000s where albums like TM101 and Kanye’s first 2 albums are still influencing music to this day.

I’ll argue TM101 was far more influential/impactful than GRODT, especially considering all the current nyc rappers try to sound like they’re from atl.
GRODT was a super influential album 50 should have had writers on payroll to chronicle the influence and impact of the album and write a bunch of retrospective pieces.

TM101 was not more influential than GRODT in NYC that's crazy talk and nobody really trying to sound like ATL especially like no Jeezy.

The average contemporary NYC rapper was influenced more so by G Herbo and drill than first wave ATL trap artist. Guess what G Herbo said though that his whole style came from NYC, the Chicago dudes have gone as far as saying as Heat was the first drill video and all that.

The biggest male NYC artist to debut in the last 5 years was Pop Smoke who was a 50 STAN

50 influence in NYC is still seen to this day by kids that was born when GRODT came out :snoop:

People will say ANYTHING on here :russ:

Well let me give you my background. I'm old I retired in my mid 30s. I've been traveling the world for over 30 something years. I'm a 6'3 handsome black man with a beautiful black wife and kids multiple homes . But I see why you would feel a way and you answered my question you nikkas work for them. That's all I wanted to know.

Not sure when that narrative started online, but that's far from what I saw, at the time.

Ras Kass just told a story recently about being on a promo tour with Jay for Priority Records that summer, and how everywhere they went, crowds were going crazy for Jay and knew all the words to the songs on RD. He literally said speaking about Jay, "He was a star already, and the album had just come out. The label needed to catch up to where he was".
It’s not a narrative. I remember it well.
