MTV caused quite a stir with hip-hop fans with the release of its controversial Hottest MCs in the Game list. One MC who some believe should have made the cut was J. Cole. But the Roc Nation rapper is not sweating it.
During an interview with DJ Drama, Cole sounded off on his exclusion.
Somebodys gonna die, he joked before getting serious. I dont know, but I dont really give a fukk. It is what it is. Think about it, from what they say, its the past year, Ive had a quiet year.
However, he still believed that he deserved a spot in the top 10. I should be on there, he said, while adding, I dont give a fukk, DJ Drama. Theyre fukking dead, and Im gonna kill them.
He agreed with a lot of the other MCs that made the list including 2 Chainz and Drake, but didnt want to give the creators any extra shine.
We shouldnt talk about this anymore. They want this. fukk these guys, said Cole, who didnt understand the logic behind the list.
Future doesnt even give a fukk about Kanye, he said. They dont even interrupt each others lives and theyre not competing on the same level.
Cole is currently putting the finishing touches on his sophomore album and a joint project with MTVs newly-crowned Hottest MC Kendrick Lamar.
