I do love the retrospective praise for Dilla.....because it is true that you dont always know what you got till its gone....he stayed low-key and never comprised his art and because of that his massive library and extensive influence and blueprints that he left us with was only truly appreciated after his passing, and people realized that they werent going to get anymore of it.....

Still, the "J Dilla Changed My Life" crowd seems to act like MADLIB doesnt exist, didnt play a key role in Dilla's sound in the later years, and hes STILL HERE, making great music

Lib brought the chopping and cartoonishly-funky element to Dilla's sound, and Dilla helped Madlib's beat sound LARGER and more detailed

Basically, I hate the elitist cynics that shyt on people for appreciating and mourning a true artist like Dilla (when tons of lesser dead rappers get love for just existing at one point)....and I hate that people that dont learn from their mistakes and put Madlib on that pedestal while hes still here so he can get some major love that he deserves :snoop:

No doubt, and Madlib gets love whenever hes mentioned...but its not enough IMO.

I see why the Dilla die-hards (and I consider myself one) are so vocal, because we have to be so that an artist like him can get recognition amongst the hordes of talentless disposable fukkery thats being force-fed to us on a daily basis. He birthed like 4-5 entire SOUNDS and should be recognized for it.

I just dont see why that same fervour aint being put towards getting Madlib attention from major media outlets, write-ups in newspapers and magazines, love from academia, shoutouts from the Young Gurus, Rosenbergs and Questlove rap "raconteur" crowds etc....people rallied to get Dilla's name bolded in the history-books and they succeeded. Why not give Lib a similar push while he's still here and can make a difference himself?

Did Lex Luger do anything this year? Or last year even?

He's kinda played-out it seems :ld:

He did have some cool hi-hat programming tho....some very precise mouse-clicking

People can't even say "this is a good song" they gotta take it to the next level with the hyperbole. He died cuz he was sick and this song is just "aight"

one of the coolest stories i ever heard was rosenberg was doing this hip-hop q and a around 2008 to 2011 called noise makers and he did one with qtip right around when the solo album dropped ...

q-tip got dilla demo and it was all he would listen to for weeks the pharcyde approach tip about making beats on there second album and tip was the one who put them in contact with dilla ...
As annoying and corny as Rosenberg is, those Noisemakers were dope. Hard as fukk to get a hold of them, I don't know why he wouldn't sell them on iTunes or put them up as podcasts or something.
