Y'all was happy as fukk when 12 years a slave got 3 of those fukk statutes though
I wasn't feeling that shyt...just like I asn't feeling when Denzel won for his lackluster and really not that great perfromance in Training Day as a crooked cop compared to his steller performance in Malcolm X and when Halle Berry won for being a drugged out whore in Monster's Ball after getting smutted out by Billy Bob Thornton's racist character. They only reward blacks for demeaning roles.

Anyone else find it a little funny that the Black 1% is upset that the white 1% didn't get invited to the self-gratification party?
That's why...in the end...this fake outrage is all a joke.

As someone who don't even watch TV anymore (and haven't since June 2008) and don't really care about movies like that...this is no concern to me. I've never heard of any of these movies being nominated. I don't personally like to consume my time with mindless entertainment. These are all people who are well to do and beyond that and their cries of not being accepted are falling on my own deaf ears. I can't relate to their problems and I'm pretty sure the other 90%+ of people in this....world...couldn't either.

The sad thing is, these cries for the lack of "diversity" only come when ppl feel like they were personally snubbed.

No one makes these outbursts when they aren't up for an award and see the same things happening.

I mean didn't we go through the same thing a few months ago with Nikki?

Spike Lee is the fukking worst though.
the mother fukker is THE worst hypocrite.

Why do we care what rich white ppl to with their money?
Why do we care what ANYONE does with their money?

If they want to make movies with their own money they should be able to have anyone they want acting.

These are private companies making movies to make money. This isn't a charity.

I don't disagree that there should be more "diversity" in Hollywood.
But no one should be forced to do anything they don't want to.

Listen, If I was a movie studio and I knew that I could get Tom cruise who is one of the best bankable stars to play in my movie or some other more "diverse" actor then I'm sorry I'm gonna go with what is gonna give me my best return.

Movies are a business... the Oscars are just another way for rich ppl to suck each other off and give themselves pats on the back for being rich. same with ALL awards shows.

I don't remember the last time I watched a full awards show. Sometimes I will watch the opening monlogue for the fukkery(Chris Rock and Ricky Gervais, etc)

Donald Trump Weighs In on Oscars 2016 Boycott: 'The Whites Don't Get' BET Nominations
January 20, 2016 @ 11:49 AM / By Esther Lee

Yikes. Donald Trump expressed his opinion on Wednesday, January 20, about celebrities boycotting the 2016 Oscars over the lack of minority nominees — and the presidential hopeful has only riled up more scandal with his latest remarks.

Trump, 69, followed Stacey Dash's lead on Fox & Friends, where both guests were asked about the Academy Awards brouhaha. Dash, a Fox contributor, called out Black Entertainment Television (BET) for giving awards largely to black people. "I think it's ludicrous, because we have to make up our minds," the Clueless alum, 49, told Steve Doocy. "Either we want to have segregation or integration. If we don't want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you're only awarded if you're black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It's a double standard."

Later in the show, Trump weighed in. "I saw somebody on your show today say, 'Well, what do we do with BET?'" said the real estate mogul, who called into the program the morning after Sarah Palin endorsed him for president. "The whites don't get any nominations, and I thought it was an amazing interview, actually. I've never even thought of it from that standpoint."

He continued: "I mean, I’ve watched over the years where African Americans have in fact received Academy Awards and have in fact been represented," Trump said. "And this is not one of those years, but over the years I’ve seen numerous black actors and African American actors receive awards and I think that’s great. This doesn’t happen to be one of those years. … It's a difficult situation."

The Oscars uproar started last Thursday, January 14, after the 2016 nominees were announced and none of the actors represented in the major categories were nonwhite. Host Chris Rock also joked that this year's show is the "white BET Awards." Then, on Monday, the situation escalated when both Jada Pinkett Smith and director Spike Lee said they were not attending the show.

In response, Will Smith's former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air costar Janet Hubert slammed the Concussion actor and his wife in a video message about their reactions to the nominees.

"Maybe you didn't deserve a nomination," Hubert, 60, who played Aunt Vivian on the sitcom from 1990 to 1993, said to the actor. "I didn't think, frankly, you deserved a Golden Globe nomination. … Y'all need to get over yourselves. … You are a part of Hollywood. You are a part of the system that is unfair to other actors."

The 2016 Oscars will air on Sunday, February 28, at 7 p.m. EST on ABC. Watch the video above for more details about the controversy.

What I wrote in the Oscars thread:

All White, All Night. I just can't even support this mess. I understand these are establishment awards but the blatant racial disrespect is out of control. Stop acting like films with Black, Latino or Asian actors haven't done well this year. "Creed" was robbed including Michael B and Ryan, "Beast of No Nation" was robbed from Idris. "Sicario" was robbed for Benicio. "Straight outta Compton" was robbed and SMH @ the White Writers being nominated. Cube and Dre should of pushed more for Black screenwriters to write the movie. Will Smith was robbed from "Concussion". Honestly I think Samuel L deserved props for his "Hateful Eight" performance. Oscar Issacs from "Ex-Mancia" was good was well. So this bias and idea that there weren't performances "Good enough" is clearly racist and why "Oscarssowhite" is getting ethered for the 2nd year in a row.

Boycott for me. I don't want to hear the excuses. It's up to the Academy to prove they don't have a diversity problem cause they clearly do. Blacks only win for mostly degrading roles. As for the show I only want Leo to finally win and John Williams to win on his 50th Nomination. I want Stallone to win for his Legendary career but hopefully he doesn't forget Michel B and Ryan again like the Globes. that's all I care about. Then they have the nerve to have Chris Rock host and have a Black Woman as the President. It's a pathetic state of affiars. I not even upset because the bias isn't surprising. Also I don't view it as "White Acceptance". The Oscars are like the Super Bowl in filmmaking. Of course you want to get to the top in your field. With that said it's clear the odds and the game is rigged so Black, Latino and Asian actors shouldn't hold much value in this. LOL @ Weeknd being the only black person nominated in the whole show. SMH. Black Filmmakers need to continue to push being behind the camera and not just in front it.

Jada is 100% right period. The Oscars been had a racism issue and continue to have one. Yes Aunt Viv got done dirty on Fresh Prince, but her attack on Jada doesn't dismiss the issue at hand. The fact that Jada and now Will have put there star power behind something like this huge. Should they speak out on more issues? Well sure, a lot of black celeberites should. Is this about Will's "Concussion" Snubbed? Some of it is but even if you didn't think Will shouldn't of got it you have to explian Idris? And Michael B Jordan? Benicio didn't give a Oscar worthy performance in "Sicirio"? Yeah OK. There's never been an African American Director to win Best Director, why was Ryan not nominated?. This isn't about quota's, this is about systematically taking away Black Actors due period. As well as a few other groups.

Some say it's "White Acceiptence" when the Oscar statue itself is actually copied from Africa to begin with. Yes we need to make our own. We did that, we had BET and other networks but now they were brought out and are white owned. The Oscar fight isn't the only fight in Black Society. It's just one of the many. I saw Will's interview and some will say his wife backed him into a corner but I think he believes in this and calling out Racism to the Academy's face is big. Will is one of the biggest stars win the World. He's not just big in the US. Will is a Global Star. His words travel further. Will played it cool in the interview but he let White America know. Look this isn't the future, you can't keep doing this. Some say this should of happen sooner, I agree. Also Will recent interview about "Racism" being rare is still a head scratcher.

Sure maybe in Will's superstar global status he doesn't experience racism as much but that is because of his status, he's still a black man at the end of the day. Also I don't quesiton Will's motives mainly because he's done this in the past boygotting the Grammy's for not televising the rap award in which he won the first for Hip Hop. But just because it's happening now doesnt' mean it doesn't need to be happening. I commend Will and Jada for putting there star power behind attack White Supremacy in Hollywood. Aunt Viv attack wasn't about Jada or the Oscars. It was about Will Smith and still being mad about Fresh Prince. Will hit her with a subliminal in his interview. "This is so not about me, this is about those childern that will sit down and watch the show and see they won't be represented". Say what you will, WIll and Jada are putting there power behind this. How could you hate? Chris Rock is going have his racism jokes. But that's not going to change the system? Geroge Clooney has now come out as well as other non black actors. The Academy Racism is at a crossroad and they have no choice after this as no organization wants to be branded as a racist and bias group. Jada wasn't alone as Will Joined her as well as Spike, Lupita, Michael Moore and even Idris just did a speech in Parlement as he dealt with Racism in the UK's media system. At the the end of the day the Oscar doesn't define our great artist and filmmakers as they have flourised without them. With that said wrong is wrong and if you look at the winners and nominees, it doesn't cut it.

Jada Pinkett Smith Boycotts Oscars For Lack Of Diversity (UPDATE)

"We are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments."
19 hours ago | Updated 1 hour ago

UPDATE: Jada Pinkett Smith has announced that she will not be attending or watching the 2016 Academy Awards.

In a video posted to Facebook Monday morning, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the actress posed some powerful, thoughtful questions.

"Is it time that people of color recognize how much power, influence, that we have amassed, that we no longer need to ask to be invited anywhere?" she said in the video. "Maybe it's time that we recognize that if we love and respect and acknowledge ourselves in the way in which we are asking others to do, that that is the place of true power."

Pinkett Smith called for change, saying that "it's our responsibility now" to make the difference.

"Begging for acknowledgement, or even asking, diminishes dignity and diminishes power. And we are a dignified people and we are powerful," she said. "Let's do us, differently."

PREVIOUSLY:

Following the backlash of yet another year of #OscarsSoWhite, Jada Pinkett Smith expressed her dismay on the awards' lack of diversity.

The "Magic Mike XXL" actress, 44, sent out a series of tweets over the weekend.

"At the Oscars ... people of color are always welcomed to give out awards ... even entertain, but we are rarely recognized for our artistic accomplishments," she wrote, adding, "Should people of color refrain from participating all together?"

She continued, "People can only treat us in the way in which we allow. With much respect in the midst of deep disappointment."

Pinkett Smith isn't alone in her thinking. Following the nomination announcement last week, Rev. Al Sharpton slammed the Academy for overlooking black actors.

"Yet again, deserving black actors and directors were ignored by the Academy -- which reinforces the fact that there are few, if any, blacks with real power in Hollywood," he said in a statement provided by the National Action Network. "Being left out of awards consideration is about more than just recognition for a job well-done; winning an Oscar has long-lasting cultural and economic impacts."

This year, out of the 20 people nominated in the acting categories at the Oscars none are people of color. None.

Furthermore, in the nominated films that include non-white cast members, only white contributors have been recognized with nominations. One key exception is Alejandro González Iñárritu, who's up for Best Director for "The Revenant.

Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs also spoke to the issue, saying, "Of course I am disappointed. But this is not to take away the greatness [of the films nominated]. This has been a great year in film, it really has across the board."

But she also noted that the Academy's efforts at embracing diversity are moving too slowly.

"You are never going to know what is going to appear on the sheet of paper until you see it," she said. "We have got to speed it up."

Oscars have always been racist. How can Monique get an Oscar for the worst black movie ever:scust: Jada needs to focus more on her son a black man wearing dresses in public:scust:

i believe they need to shut up about oscars and this lack of diversity shyt. These actors who complain together have enough money to put their own studios and award shows together. They can use kickstarter and other similar websites because they also have fan bases. In my opinion i feel like they don't want to use their money and put shyt they would like to see together. That's why i don't sympathize with them. It may not be easy but it's worth it. The people who created these studios and award shows, not all of them started from the top.

Wow, just got negged. Deal with it because it's the truth. I find it funny because this is nothing new the Oscars has been doing this and now they want to complain. This is nothing new, don't consistently bytch and moan because someone is not giving anything to you, make your own shyt. I bet if the Oscars decides to give them awards they would stop talking about diversity and so on.
