When I have kids, I'm thinking about naming them Ackee and Saltfish
mike-tyson-does-herman-cain-o.gif

But why every time I hit a Caribbean spot, they're either are only serving it on Sunday or only in the mornings? One spot in Florida explained to me that it's a breakfast dish in Jamaica, but that shyt don't taste like breakfast to me.

I drove around Atlanta for an hour and a half Google mapping Jamaican spots trying to find some young Ackee. I had to hit three different spots before I hit the jackpot, and even then, they looked out for the kid, cause they usually don't make it after a certain time. But I can't make that my regular spot because it's too far. Back in Florida, I was good, cause I had a spot that served it everyday, but I live in Atlanta now.

I'm bout to hop in the whip now and hit a few spots I just Googled in Decatur

Y'all need to start serving that shyt regularly. That's my favorite shyt. Plus, I don't eat meat, only fish, so it be a little tough finding takeout spots. Which leads me to another point, why don't all the Caribbean spots serve the veggie chunks:why: shyt be lightweight pissing me off. But that Ackee and Saltfish with rice and cabbage and that young Irish Moss:banderas:

Get the fresh ackee right out the pods op, just make sure it's open. I like it with some fry bami or boil green banana and yellow yam

Jerk Chicken and rice with snow peas is the standard But....If the jerk Chicken isn't cooked on an outside grill...Its not real jerk chicken. Theres a spot a lil distant from New Lots that plays it off because outside grills are illegal so what they do is they grill the chicken outside in full view but the resturant itself has been under repairs for like 2 years...LOL....Thats how they get by with being able to grill outside.....Straight genius and the chicken has that authentic jerk taste.

Learn to cook

The nerve of you questioning my willingness to prepare meals domestically. Obviously, I cook quite often, considering the fact that I'm a pescetarian and my takeout options are limited to say the least. As well, I don't have the desire to learn how to a cook a traditional Jamaican dish. I'm not even sure where to find Ackee.

nikka are you even Caribbean:what:

you can only get Ackee and Saltfish on Sunday's or in the morning because its more of a breakfast dish. Along with boiled or fried dumplings and a slice of pear on the side :blessed:

They don't even sell Ackee and Saltfish at all:damn:

It was a vegan spot. I walked out with curry chickpeas, vegan lo mein, and vegan scrambled tofu. I got some peanut punch and a pone too. This shyt is on point, so I got a new spot. Still need that Ackee connect tho:mjcry:

Ackee and Saltfish is Jamaica's national dish. People from the other islands don't eat that/ make it.

You're a vegan so next time you're up a West Indian restaurant ask for Ital or Cookup :jawalrus:
