Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) wife, Jane Sanders, is launching a think tank aimed at helping “progressive leaders” connect with more people.

“The purpose is to revitalize democracy in support of progressive institutions,” Jane Sanders said of the Sanders Institute in a Wednesday interview with The Washington Post.

“A vital democracy requires an informed electorate, civil discourse, and bold thinking. Hopefully, it’s going to increase the number of progressive voices in the mainstream media.”

The Sanders Institute is reportedly a 501c3 spinoff of Bernie Sanders’s 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.
Sanders said the group’s first 11 “progressive leaders” will conduct live events on Facebook, make documentaries, pen op-eds and more to reach larger audiences.

The organization’s website lists among its fellows Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii), an early Sanders supporter, Princeton University professor Cornel West and actor Danny Glover.

The Post reported that Bernie Sanders is not involved with the institute’s operations despite being pictured on its homepage.

Sanders added that neither she nor the think tank’s experts will take salaries for its work, which will not focus on being anti-President Trump.

“It will not be about Trump,” she said. “It will be about the issues facing the country. I’m not getting paid anything.”

Tulsi Gabbard

I get that she kissed the ring, but she's not someone we should be looking at as the future. Her record is extremely conservative for someone representing a D+19 district.

Sounds like.... y all have.... a purity test
Really? Isn't that what you guys want? Her district is safely Dem, however her voting record is strongly conservative. Isn't she the perfect example of someone who should face a primary challenger?

Here's an article from Zaid Jilani (y'all seem to like him a lot given the frequency in which you/others post his tweets).

In all seriousness, I have no issues with tulsi gabbard in general but not a fan of some of her stances.

I don't have anybody primarying her or anybody. She'll either win or lose but at least those issues would get discussed. Only stated that sentiment cuz we have folks like Kamala Harris talking about purity tests and risking shyt when primaries should be encouraged if you want parties to truly reflect folks changing views.

I'd love to know if there was a panel on foreign policy at the people's summit.

Tulsi is definitely a mixed bag but she is mixed as in good on some stuff.
