paint is pretty pricey....
Interesting to say the least.
It's a short term solution I believe to get the person caught within a few hours or day. Not long enough under stressful circumstances to get repainted.
I would believe most Japanese would snitch with the quickness.

oops, my coli lawyer just came out...
i dont think the paint makes a difference, same argument and logic can be applied to the situation like any other car chase aftermath:
*When the police confront you later or show up to your door*
"no sir, i wasnt driving at the time"
"did you see me driving and flee sir"
"i dont know what you guys are talking about, i came home and found my car like this"
"...i havent driven all week"
"if you guys have anymore questions you can talk to my lawyer...."
and thats how itll usually goes if they dont catch you at the scene
