You know, the way I see it, people are treating “passport bros” the way they treat the Black women who make a big deal about “Divesting”.
I think ppl should ignore passport dudes the way they should ignore women who divest.
People laughed at the women who say they’re going to find men in other races who will treat them better, and people are laughing at men who think women in other countries will treat them better.
Truth is, will Black women encounter men of other races who are sincere? If they show up with their A game, yes. Will Black men encounter women of other races/cultures who are sincere? If they show up with their A game, yes.
THE CAVEAT IS: both groups are so loud about what they are doing they look like lames to their own race AND others, which will attract people looking to take advantage. This is an issue with Black folks in general; we can be too vocal and emotional so other groups already know our potential issues and insecurities before we open our mouths.
Other groups have their issues, but they aren’t as loud about it, and their communities aren’t as damaged as ours.
As a woman, that’s my only issue with “divestors”. If you’re a fly chick of ANY race, you don’t have to say you’re dating interracially; you just attract men of all races and if the man who is treating you the best happens to be of a different race, that’s who you stick with. No need to make it a movement. I know Black women who are stay at home wives married to white men for 10+ years. Never once did they say anything about “divesting” and leaving Black men behind. They just said “Hey, this white dude asked me out, I think I’ll give it a try”. Some were duds but some ended up proposing and they have great lives. Never said one bad thing about Black men.
If a “passport bro” touches down in Brazil and is actually taking his US dollars and marrying a woman, providing a better life than a man of her own culture can, then there’s no need to talk about it- just do it. The only question is are they just casually dating or actually trying to lock a woman down? If it’s just casual it looks like tricking because most of those women aren’t dumb enough to spread their legs for a traveling man without getting $.
I think the ultimate point is that people are running from the issues in their culture instead of finding someone of quality and making it work. If we ALL date out, eventually there won’t be a Black community.
Side note: I’m actually surprised JB made a video about this because it usually seems like he has more ire for women.
