marketing is promotion of a product to a consumer so yes the videos and everything i mentioned would be considered marketing

idk why you bringing up budget when you need that to market something anyway, sounds like you and OP the only confused people in here bruh

Only technically. I brought up budget cuz i said it fits better :dahell:. And also cuz you just said "2 BIG BUDGET videos".

People on the net constantly confuse "marketing" with budget. What homie said is not marketing. 2 big budget videos is marketing, especially in 2016?

Not sayin i agree or disagree with the thread, just sayin.

filming a video is marketing in a sense but its the promotion of the video that is true marketing.

TDE seems to be taking a "Let the music speak for itself" approach to this release.

Q had great marketing. That Part is in heavy rotation on the radio, it's #64 song in the country and is rising. Plus he got at least two other songs on the album that will do well on the charts. He'll prob do 100k first week, or close.

Is TDE run well? Overall hell no. But let's be real: Ab Soul fell off and his career is prob done. That verse on the That Part remix is straight ass, like most shyt he's done in the last couple years.

IMO they fukked up with Jay Rock by trying to do something creative instead of letting him be what he is: an introspective gangsta rapper. YG just dropped an album that Jay Rock should have dropped 3 years ago. Jay Rock had one shot to do something big: release an album the year after GKMC and capitalize off his Money Trees verse. He didn't.

Kendrick will be fine as usual. Tho he prob needs another GKMC type album. I noticed his White House set on the Fourth Of July was almost entirely GKMC stuff. Four years later. And I think TPAB is better than GKMC.

SZA getting screwed but TBH she wasn't gonna blow anyway. Tinashe and Jhene Aiko can't blow with some radio support, how is SZA gonna do shyt with no radio support.

Rashad has a lot of potential and is gonna drop a great album. But they should have released it last year. You can't starve a new artist for more than a year. They need to release material to keep the buzz and build a fanbase.

Yeah i know. That was the point i was making & why i later said "only technically". You got it tho.

Yeah i agree. But is it really that bad? Cuz then people complain how the game gets cluttered with content every day. So it seems you cant win
whatever you do. I at least respect their approach. They're not going for the 15 min of fame pop crowd and just doin whatever to fit in. They stay
about the music & their own approach.

if you paid attention or if you are a Q fan you would have seen that.

Hardly anyone outside of that.
that applies to everyone, rihanna is a pop star and i had no clue she had some stupid social media treasure hunt going on for anti...the album dropped i downloaded, that's all i knew. i got friends who didnt know about TLOP until it finally made its way to itunes. if you're not connecting to musicians, you miss a lot these days. aint no more radio spots or ads during your favorite video countdown, and lord knows the last time i picked up a magazine...the promotion today is you either know or you don't.

anyway, it hurts me to say, but soulo gotta go, he's been so wack the past 3 years, what happened man :damn:

I agree with you on p much everything, but Soul had the opportunity to blow up completely, and he dropped the ball with incredibly underwhelming projects.
Jay Rock for some reason just takes long as hell to drop anything at all, that song that got him famous featuring Lil Wayne was on an album that didn't get released until almost four years later.
