I think outside his retirement scams, handing out cellphones and using scandal to create buzz for his album. He has come to realize he hasn't got the large fanbase he thinks he has. The cancelled solo shows prove that and also dude has most likely run out of things to brag about. He does not want to come out to a brick and he has been musically getting sh1tted on since he messed up Jay Electronicas album with all his verses no one asked for.

Side note: The Beatles have the most number one albums with 19 number one albums which is insane considering their last number 1 was 25 years ago and it was a greatest hits album.
