So some pretentious white dudes gave some trophies to someone. Doesn't mean they make good hip hop, if anything using that as a basis as an arguement makes you look like a fool. What's next sales talk to decide what's dope and what's not?

The thing is, this is very similar to those who complain about Steve Nash having more MVPs than Kobe and Shaq combined when it's a yearly award. It's particularly egregious because half the names on your listen were no longer prominent when the Grammys even started acknowledging hip hop (no best rap album award until 1996) :snoop:

I think the biggest offenses, as far as the Grammy hip hop goes isn't necessarily who wins because when you look at who wins out of the list of people they nominated, more often than not, they do get it right (except when Em is nominated :beli:), the issue is who gets nominated in the first place.

Also, Jay and to a lesser extent Kanye, are always there. Eventually they're going to win because they're there ever year. There have been times where they have lost when I felt they had some shyt that could have won, but then they'll win the next year. When you're there that consistently, eventually you'll end up with a year where the rest of the product isn't as good as yours. Think about, the BP3 won more grammys than the Blueprint, but the Blueprint lost to Stankonia. It's all relative.

Bringing up the "Best Rap Album" award is a red herring..Because the Grammy has been recognizing and awarding rap since 1989....Every name I listed was prominent then...

Steve Nash having more MVP's than Shaq and Kobe is a travesty...

Every album Kanye West has ever released has won the award for best rap album and every album Eminem released besides Encore won the award..This isn't just a numbers game of them showing up so much they have higher odds.. They can sh1t on wax and chances are they will be the awarded best rap album/song of the year by default..

By your logic, Snoop with his 15 nominations should atleast have 1 for his constant presence...

It's not all relative.. It's nonsensical...It seems to be biased or corrupt more than any other category...

Yep Grammys is relevant post 98 for hiphop.
Just as it's relevant for Rock past 70 or 80 something when Rock music started 30 years before that.

And since it's a yearly thing, it's not about a whole career it's for given years. Post 98 there's not a single year that Snoop Dogg or anyone on the list mentioned has had the best anything. Best album can often yields a couple more awards. Best single can yield 2 awards. So if you have the best album one year like Wayne allegedly had (according to the reviews, award shows and sales) he'll have 4 more than Snoop who has had anything post 98.

When Kanye drops, every single year he's dropped he's actually had the best reviewed album. Jay has won one or two unfair awards for BP3 for example but the singles won pretty fairly I can't recall any commercial singles fukking with DOA or ESOM. But he's always got the best bangers out, any year he drops NIP was the banger of the year and No Church in the wild was probably the best single musically of 2011-2012 (imo at least but Drakes yolo song). Eminem, has won a bunch of unfair awards though specially any award he's won post 2003 besides the Rihanna joint.

You need to analyze the awards separately, you can't look at the total amount.
Jay winning a combined 10 grammys for Run this town, ESOM, DOA, NIP, Otis and No Church in the wild in the hphop category.

Should not be compared to Mj's 10 awards which contains album of the year, song of the year etc.

Jay deserved all those awards imo, who else was fukking with those singles? Best I ever had? Day'n'Nite? Dead and Gone (perhaps)? Jeezy/Plies? Eminem singles? Florida? Daughters? Lotus Bomb flower? The competition was not there :manny:. Perhaps Cherry Wine but NIP was better, actually a known song and turnt up clubs for 2 years straight from Karachi to Rabat to Belgrade to Phoenix.

I disagree with Snoop saying "get rid of the OLD" mufukkas who vote on the grammys and get some new young people. Chief Keef would have song of the year nshyt..lol

I dont know what I think about the Grammys anymore. Its not bad, Its not that good.

I think it represents what we all say about hip hop which is balance. Maybe expand the categories by one or two more awards. Maybe add an adult contemporary rap category to help a Snoop, Common, Krs or whoever...
