The Film is the most faithful novel adaption ever, it was beautiful and had great acting. How could you not like it? :mindblown:

Anywho, the soundtrack was great and had a great selection of tracks that fit in the setting of the roaring 20s but with a modern twist. Pretty good.

I could name 4 worse ones, easily.

Bp2
Kingdom come
Vol1
Vol2

Just my opinion tho. I loved AG minus the filler
:what:Vol. 1?

I actually like all of them more than AG, but I can see the other three. Vol 1 would be a classic without those two terrible tracks (Sunshine & I Know What Girls Like).

Jay-Z's Great Gatsby Soundtrack is a Failure - New York - Music - Sound of the City

kris ex is an og in the rap writer game and deserving of respect, this aint elliot wilson or toure or dream hampton, this dude actually have the balls to criticse jay z in a major publication. maybe there is hope for hip hop criticism yet.

That's good for Kris to b an og in the RAP writer game, but Great Gatsby is beyond rap. More of a time piece, music album, not just rap. So to have a rap specialist writer, talking or speaking about another genre means absolutely nothing.

Maybe should let Kenny, Shaq n charles do play by play for the superbowl next year.

heard the same from my boy that saw the movie. he said it just didnt make sense for the movie in regards to time period and the characters in the film :manny:

i havent seen the movie but if anyones going to the movies to enjoy the movie rather than hear some songs they might like outside of the movie experience i can see why they wouldnt like the soundtrack

man the soundtrack was better then the movie...fukk the '$100 Bill', Lana Del Rey 'Young & Beautiful', 'Over The Love', 'Into the Past', 'Together', 'Love is Blindness'...I play all those all the time...esp. Lana Del Rey that song is truly beautiful music.

Ok, that's it, I'm canceling your thread.

horrible album. desperate and opportunistic album by a man who had been roundly dismissed with his previous effort. it showed he lacked conviction with his original mission statement for KC, grown man rap, and resorted to the played intelligent gangsta isht he did in the past with much better results and how now supposedly outgrown. if KC had been as good as Life IS good, ie, a great grown man album, AG wouldnt have been as desperate.

Stopped reading when he said american gangster was underwhelming
truth is AG was underwhelming. but you would only know that if you're old enough to remember REAL albums that were made like that decades before AG dropped. AG was a little bone jay thru out there to hopefully get other artist and the listeners back into the idea of "CONCEPT" albums. but it took til this past year with this kendrick album to blow up a CONCEPT album.
