Jay-z's recent signing with Universal brings forth an interesting scenario :jawalrus:

"Perhaps most interestingly from a FORBES perspective, the deal means that all five of hip-hop’s wealthiest artists–Diddy, Jay-Z, Dr. Dre, Birdman and 50 Cent–and ten of last year’s top earners are now all on labels within the Universal umbrella"

i don't understand why they don't put their money together and start their own distribution.

:mindblown:

Why spend my money...when i can spend yours, and make money?

These dudes are too big of artists to do any of this, it'd be different if they were on the level of a burgeoning regional/ almost national artist and had their own shyt running.

outside of the fact these dudes aint trying to foster any type of co-op.... they're not in the business of black power, they're in the business of making money.

it's even bigger than this tho.... Universal might have all 4 of them under their umbrella.... but Vivendi owns Universal and Warner.
