Jay-Z said no rapper can do a Verzuz with him because no one is on his level: “There’s not a chance anyone can stand on that stage with me”

Lol man this is Verzuz we're talking about.. This isn't just hit vs hit or record for record

No one is beating the guy, he's got too many different directions he can go

And no, he's not doing just his hits. In fact, they'd likely be a minority.

He'll stand up there and do the Grammy Family freestyle and nikkas will lose their mind..

He's got the stage presence that washes most of everybody..

It'd take Pac to take him out
Who is this audience going crazy for the Grammy Family freestyle other than this message board? This is not the tunnel in the 90‘s.

I agree in that Grammy Family freestyle from Hov actually my all time favorite freestyle from any rapper :banderas: (the Bobitto one w/ Big L is close), but I’d be remiss to think that any average every day person in 2025 would care about it at all.

That hip-hop purist blindspot this board has tends to set folks up when it comes to accurately guaging the public’s reaction.

Same logic that leaves this board dumbfounded that the only arena selling hip-hop artist currently is NBA Youngboy.

Jay ain’t on Ye’s level musically. We need to be fukking for real here
Like at all…

Ye and Drake literally transcend hip-hop as a genre in terms of the scope of their discography’s and consumption.

Which is why Jay hates them 😂 because he was never able to reach that same level OUTSIDE “the culture” no matter how many Justin Timberlake and Linkin Park collabs he tried.

He’s not a better artist than Ye at all. However, Jay is still the boss of all bosses in Hip Hop culture. Ye is the king of music and modern culture but even that pays homage to hip hop. Jay is still a very important figure in culture period so he’s not exactly defeated, he’s just not active. Jay is like Paulie in Goodfellas. He doesn’t make as many moves as he used to but with a wave of his hand he could still possibly end your life.

Record wise, he still has a catalog that can contend and he’s got one of the best stage presence/ aura factors in the game.

Yes Ye has greater music and current influence overall and that’s the reason why he’s the only one that can stand toe to toe. I give Ye the edge anyway, but like I said, Hov has quiet power that shouldn’t be underestimated. Verzuz is not 100% about hits or records. Stage presence, confidence and the timing of your selections play a huge part of how these things are won and both are very smart and calculated.

Nobody who is smart and knows the culture should ever fix their mouth to say Jay would get washed. That’s fukking crazy talk.
What you miss is that Ye’s influence exceeds hip-hop culture in a way that Jay’s never has.

Busta

Said that the last time this topic came up

Jay Z don’t have that many hits but his hits are evergreen. Busta would be perfect

Kanye is too much for Jay. He’s up there with Drake as far as hits go.
Wow Busta has power when it comes to this

I agree with Talib Kweli, Jay-Z best match against verzuz is Nas.

Good debate

Also, yall gotta stop saying it's about biggest hits. It's not about hits. It's about how you performance, it's about the selection, etc They saw how played out with Cash Money, Dipset, etc. These fans kept saying, but but they have biggest hits record, etc.

The next episode

Snoop Dogg loses with this list. I mean "Vato", "What's My Name Pt. 2"? Jay Z has far better songs produced by The Neptunes and Timbaland alone that would easily counter those. "Beautiful" could easily be countered with "Excuse Me Miss" especially since those songs were in rotation at the same time when they dropped. "That's That"? Jay has singles that are better than this Snoop single. "Hennessey n Buddah", "Loosen control", "Go Away" are all songs easily countered with a song from Blueprint.

The fact that you’re a Drake Stan who has been on the wrong side of everything on how hip hop would respond to that battle lecturing people is funny. Jay Z literally owns Roc Nation and is very tapped in - I was at Fanatics Fest when people like Speed were dying to see him. The fact that you don’t think Jay would structure a show to reach all audiences is hilarious.
