It should also be noted that for all the shyt people talk about Jay, no one ever claims he stole money from them...which is rare in that business.

^^^^ same could be said about Master P and we see how his venture into the sports agent world went...big difference is, he didn't have a huge conglomerate like CAA backing him up...#newrules #samepuppet

but is jay really a puppet? he's making money and the athletes are better off with him than theyd be with another agency

yeah white boys are still eating off of it too, but that doesn't mean jay is a puppet

Hov kept it real. The athletes are not going to make him more famous, but he could give the athletes extra money making opportunities and provide improved money management structure for them

Please stop comparing Master P and Hov efforts. The only comparison is that both were rappers, had their own labels, and made alot of money

But it's two different buisness models and two different approaches to the sport business from two different individuals who are at two different levels of their success during two different eras

not a puppet per se but would CAA have as good of a chance of snatching up these athletes that Jay has if he wasn't attached? also, I know most agents are only allotted a certain % of a contract. How much is Roc Nation getting but how much are they kicking up to CAA for their services? Not knocking the hustle at all but, not knowing the specifics, it's like that Pusha T line "You signed to one nikka that's signed to another nikka"

like I said, you signed to a nikka that's signed to another nikka.....How much is the kick up to the BIG boss (CAA)...and please, that other shyt (rappers, labels, etc) has nothing to do with the overall. 2 different models indeed, P wasn't answering to anyone above him. So ask yourself since you're CPT Kirk'd your way into the conversation, is this truly a Boss move?

I've already address most of your argument made by another poster in another thread

-So why didn't a big sport agency at the time approach No Limit Sports for a partnership since they were "hot," to attract young talent?
-Why haven't MMG or CMB partnered with a sports agency to do this a couple years earlier when they were "hot"?

Roc-a-fella and Live Nation agreed on a partnership to form a company that includes music/distribution/touring, not sports.
Roc Nation and CAA has a partnership. One company approached the other company to create a new agency

The common factor in these business moves are Hov, give credit where it's due. He's not there just to be a "face" of a product like a sneaker or to attract young talent

No way William Morris will approach Young Money or MMG to make those kind of business partnership moves just because "Hov was successful at it," just like Gza and Power wouldn't be approached by William Morris for such a joint venture when the Wu was "hot"

It seems like it's hard for you to view Hov as more than just a rapper/entertainer. It appears you are trying to portray him as just a "face" and not the brain behind many of his successful and unsuccessful business ventures

Exactly and this is a great transition from when he is not rapping anymore. I believe he is smart because he has been pop culture for the past 2 decades and him being able to translate that to Altheletes is amazing. Great business model. Use his Althletes for his brand such as Roc A Wear (Even though nobody wears that shyt) but y'all getting the point.

I don't know why dudes find it so outrageous to say Hov is a puppet just cause it sounds bad. We can use other words to describe it but let's keep it real he does seem to just be a figure head with a better group behind him than Master P. I don't think it's nothing wrong with saying that cause we all usually have some help. It seems like everything Hov does he is that figurehead cause the smart business owners know that Hov brings that street cred and Hov gets well compensated for it. Nothing wrong with it IMO and maybe one day once and if Hov gets better understanding of what's what he might strike out on his own without CAA.

:wtf: How is this guy a puppet and he got these old white agents flipping about him taking their money. I just don't see it and he doesn't have a degree worth millions. I guess I be a puppet too.

Let them tell it some other old white agents pulled the strings in him to take money from other old white agents.

In some of these dude's minds it's unfathomable that a young(-ish) black man have any smarts or business acumen.

True indeed. What he is doing should be a model for these Black Males. Multi-Billion Company invested Million plus in his sales which of course go to him. Crazy.
