Who said that?

I'm talking about how deep his shyt was, shyt can be deep without it being political. He went deep into how men and young dudes in his environment moved, thought, their motivation and on. On the albums that followed RD he wasn't as deep, the lyrics weren't as complex, the language was cleaner so that motherfukkers all across the world could try to understand him and on.

No one has talked about the subject of matter, we're talking about the lyrical content and language.

i didn't say anyone said that, but rather insinuatin' that he's this deep guy when he's really not
jay z is a great businessman
but a deep artist? hell naw, bruh
like i said, you want deep artist? listen to nas when he's focus because when that nikka is on his a game, he's the best of the best
another example of a deep artist, scarface
no not damn jay z though

lol, okey.
You've obviously not listened to him.

How is this not deep?

all the way to

(:mjlol: @ this cac taking over the song with a video of his family)

I could go on.

Deepness to me is not talk about poor people and police brutality while using big words incorrectly, deepness is how deep you can go into any subject form love to riches to hate and poverty. This is rarely understood in hiphop, but it's the common interpretation in other genres such as pop, rock and rnb.

i hear you but jay's "deep" ain't really that deep
he has his moment sometimes and "regrets" is one of them, "d'evils", just like "this can't be life" and a couple others but that's not where jay shines the most
jay's lane is that braggadocio shyt though. makin' frivolous songs for the club and talkin' like flashy shyt is jay's lane
he just not this "great" artist a lot of muthafukkas make him out to be. not in my opinion
like i said, when it come to deep music in hip hop i'm talkin' like scarface and nas

That's you, I don't think Nas "deepness" is his him at his best.
Him just spitting freely about his surroundings like on Illmatic and Life's good is him in rare form imo, his deep shyt is often very dumb smart.
Like freeing all the criminals to the poor africans or other things that don't make sense. On illmatic it wasn't forced, sleep is the cousin of death that wasn't forced and it wasn't in a song intended to be "deep" he was just being extremely creative while painting a vivid picture.

it's crazy how now it's slept on but in 98' it was 1 of the biggest albums of that year

nikkas will go on and on bout the black album, the blueprint and reasonable doubt but never big up the 1 album that is where jay really had his moment as a star

and the album is great, i don't care what nobody say. it's jigga at his core and talkin' shyt shyt. easily a top 3 jigga album

reasonable doubt his number 1
vol. 2 his 2nd best
the blueprint his 3rd best

shyt, even jay has distanced himself from that album and naturally because the fukkin' album title and single track anthem is the opposite of who he is today :russ:
