Jean Dawson "Prize Fighter" song of the year? The changing sound of black music

I'm an audiophile. Genre doesnt matter to me. About 2 weeks ago I stumbled across this song "Prize Fighter". Loved it and put it on repeat. Probably my favorite song of the year. The instrumental and vibe are just dark, moody, great backwoods blunt at 1AM music.

This dude has some great music, like a young black Tame Impala style. And Ive been noticing a lot of black bands lately. Black music is definitely growing, and shattering current genre expectations, which makes sense because artistically we always push the envelope.

Finding out this guy has been next to blow status for the last 5 years. His song Darlin' should have blew hip up big time, especially after being featured in the Fresh Prince. He writes the kind of music that someone bigger else will cover and turn that song into a mega-smash.
