I've been wanting to hear the full story behind this for years.
For those that don't know, one of the key factors behind Kanye dropping out of college was him being offered a record deal/meeting with Columbia Records, shortly after working on Jermaine Dupri's album in 1997.
They flew him out to New York and had a limo waiting for him at the airport. During the meeting, Kanye stood on the table and declared to the room that he'd "sell more records than Jermaine Dupri ever will" and that he'd be as big as Michael Jackson; not knowing that the 'Head of Urban Music' at Columbia, at the time, Michael Maudlin (who was present at this meeting), is in fact Jermaine Dupri's father. Needless to say, he left that meeting without a deal.
