The whole "he has no weapons" is overstated.
Kerley and Hill are 2 WR's drafted in the last 3 years. Holmes was someone they overpaid to keep around. This offseason they signed 2 new RB's as a dual rushing attack (and they're hoping that they're talented players simply stuck behind other teams' QB's. Happens a lot).
The only thing they didn't address was TE (and losing Keller means nothing) and the depth beyond it in case guys go down, which was a product of Tanny trading up all the time and a failure to find gems late.
Whether you like their weapons or not is a different story, but they did try to address some of these issues now and in the past.
Hill has been underwhelming. Kerley is a small receiver to go along with another undersized receiver in Holmes who was injured for a big chunk of the season. Keller was injured too and is not a true TE IMO. Green in the run game was trash...line was trash...then add Sparano and the Tebow distraction. 'but but but Sanchez should have overcame' that...right? I'm not saying he's good or that you should keep him, but to sit there and act like the Jets didn't sabotage his development is downright silly.
As far as the wheels falling off in year 3...I'd blame some of that on Sanchez, some on Schotty and some on circumstance. Fez was asked to do a little more that year. The D was no longer carrying him (which is fine). Keep in mind he did start off pretty well. Had a good 1st half of the year..then the last 1/4 of the season he struggled. Yes...a QB in his 3rd year struggled for a few games....oh the wheels are coming off! Yes, Fez is why the Jets didn't make the playoffs that year.
I'm just giving you a fair, unbiased opinion. I thought drafting Fez in the first place was a mistake...let alone trading up to get him. I just think yall overinflate how bad he was for yall.
