In behalf of all fans of lyrical-miracle rap, I need to speak my peace

Now I know the Kdot Kendrick Klan will be bringing the calvary up here asking me did I “get” the meaning of the subject matter etc and to that I will say what I always felt about guys like Kendrick and even Cole

What they spit about ain’t that deep and just cause its “deep” don’t make it good.

Also compared to this^ !?!? THIS is that shyt that makes you appreciate and love this artform.

Compared to goofy trying way too hard to be different and “expressive”

The subject matter is serious and is interpersonal but the execution ain’t nothing to write home about it. Go to any community college worth a damn with a music production department and you’ll find dozens of dudes doing the exact same boring, back facing the crowd demeanor

I liked both albums

The production on the forever story was better but they're two different approaches to a similar theme

Which I like cause it's the most personal albums for kendrick and jid. They've both been impacted by their families in different ways, and I feel they both did a good job in expressing their perspectives

I feel like Mr morale will end up as kendrick's 7 day theory. Mixed opinions at first cause of the production and other things, but will become better received as time goes on

Albums strikes that same cord of anger and desperation mixed with moments of hope and clarity. Only kendrick is able to get some catharsis through therapy and facing his family trauma. Whereas makaveli unfortunately ends foreshadowing pac's death with the sound of gunfire as he taunts his enemies :francis:

As a Kendrick stan I can't deny this. I had Jid's album in my top 10 that year. Didn't have Mr Morale in my top 15.

Yeah nah. All that written shyt is just that.

Some stuff sound right off the page. Other stuff sound from the soul it’s a difference.

Ultimately I don’t feel like anybody and nor have I ever been around somebody that goes in the studio and says “I gotta make this one deep”

It’s either in you or it ain’t. That’s more of the labels not the true artists
