u cant separate dre moves from jimmy iovine, and you can separate jays moves from lyor. without these powereful cacs having a sentimental attachment to these black men, who can say dre and jay would be here. its like how madonna and anjelina jolie adopted black kids who arenow destinied to be rich, these rich connected white men adopted 2 negroes from poor communities and decided to bring them up financially and allow them to make moves that other black artists have been blacked from. i was gonna say clive davis and puff as well but that relationship is nowhere anymore.

Lyor paid his dues with Def Jam before becoming a boss. Jimmy was a rock dude who started a label and just ran with what was making money.

seems lyor wins by a landslide. everyone agrees iovine might be a better boss but he is a culture vulture. how do i know? interscope being sold for 200 million shortly after pac died. pac died damnnear peniless. cant support that. but for real, i think jay may still have made it without lyor, but i cant see dre making it without iovine at all. iovine saved him from eazy. i watched the documentary on deathrwo and iovine took dre aside and said man, dikk griffey of solar records tryna shyt on you let me save u. so iovine gave dre and suge money for deathrow. he saved dre again with aftermath and eminem. he helped him again with beats. shyt, iovine been a loving father to dre.

Provably Iovine.
Cohen was only about music and he was about it for several artists, Iovine seems to be super involved in anything Dre has dome since leasing nwa. And dre has basically made the correct move in every step, even if the rumors back then were saying that Dre was being lazy, not caring about business etc.
