Any of y’all up on this? It was never released in the US. I’ve been trying to find a copy since forever, but I’m prob gonna have to order it from Europe. I think the story is that her husband hired Jam and Lewis to produce an album for her.

That joint "I Really Like You" was my shyt. I remember I used to make tapes for girls I liked, always threw that shyt on right at the end coz I knew nobody would be up on that :whew:

Been on a Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis binge the past couple days. At this point they may be my number 1 production team of all time! I really think a lot of their 80’s production would work today with r&b artists.. I mean so many people sample their shyt anyway :yeshrug:

We know their popular songs but they have some fantastic deep cuts like this one

I concur but the greatest producers have gems that never become singles.

That’s one of my favorites. I wish the two of them made an entire album together.

I would like to add on that prior to hip-hop in the 1990s, albums stayed relatively short on songs because artists were trying to make everything a smash.

Absolutely.

I think they have plenty of those though. I find myself listening to their music way more than others now. I’m not saying they’re the best or anything, they’re MY top though mostly because I was around for the majority of their time. Of course I didn’t truly appreciate their greatness until I became an adult. Prince firing them was one of the greatest moves in music history lol

This here.

Their sound was really the soundtrack to my childhood. People don’t talk enough about Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They gave a lot of hits to random artists too. People that vanished later. They could really take anybody and make really dope and classic sh*t, back in the day.

I remember they had an article in Black Enterprise talking about their production process, and how they create from start to end. One of the coolest reads for me, way back.
