....agility etc got me to thinking. You take the basketball players who have made good TEs and the talk about it being a transfer of post up abilities etc.

Has sports training become way too specialized in the last few years...kids who focus on one sport too early lose the opportunity to be a more well rounded athlete? Not so much about playing another sport on the side..pick up etc...but actual real training in other sports.

Some skill players took ballet in the past....martial arts for rush ends. I would think amateur wrestling and MMA would be great for linemen in football.

Quarterbacks and point guards.

Soccer training for guys who could use some footwork.

I don't know, it was interesting to hear that hockey would transfer over.

wrestling and mma for linemen would be awful. That would be like getting involved in a bowling league for basketball players.

I don't think bowling teaches leverage, body control, conditioning, endurance and use of hands etc etc etc. Judo... I googled and a number of NFL players are doing it. Training in it and actually fighting are two different things.

It has to be done at a Young age or else it doesn't translate.

Sports are unique in that they work twitch muscles in the body

That is kind of what I'm getting at.....seems like a lot of kids are pushed into focusing on one sport early, and maybe it would be better to get trained in a few things then focus later on? I don't know....I just thought it was interesting they way they were talking about how hockey helped him.

does the fact that hockey is not available for most blacks make this a situation where JJ Watt benefits from white priviliedge?

I am NOT a sex offender
I played soccer and hockey pretty much all my life. I found that the use of my legs to intercept passes and stop shots in soccer, actually helped me when I was forced into goal in hockey as I was better able to make kick saves and use my legs to block pucks much the same way I used them defending in soccer. I was just the emergency goalie so I probably would've been fukked without that soccer training as I never really practiced in net.

Tony Gonzalez has legit game on the court and hooped at California. Not to mention, on the other side of the ball, Julius Peppers did hoop at NC.
