First time I saw "Gilbert Grape" I thought they had cast a real mentally challenged kid in that role.

People keep bringing up Daniel Day Lewis.

Daniel Day Lewis isn't in Phoenix's generation.

He's more in Bryan Cranston and Willem Defoe's generation.

I'm a huge Joaquin Phoenix fan. I don't care about Gladiator so I only really started to notice him around Walk the Line. He's definitely grown as an actor. He held his own up against Philip Seymour Hoffman in The Master, that's not some easy shyt.
