I've spent the last 7 years in media and very few of my skills translate into the real world. :ojflabby: :snoop:

Doesn't help that employers are basically looking for employees that don't exist. They're basically :flabbybron:

Don't even get me started on applying for government gigs. :sadcam:

Omg, I feel you! Im looking for new gig too, these openings are asking basically for god as an applicant. I'm looking at product marketing, they want you to have advertising, marketing, engineering, coding skills at the same damn time, I'm like who has had all these jobs in the 4-7 yrs of experience this requires.

That's why i don't fault people for lying on their resume. Jobs put all these bullshyt requirements to get experienced people they can low ball and not have to train. I remember being unemployed and told i needed 2 years experience and a degree for a fukking mail room job. Its sorting mail.

I looked at requirements and qualifications for my position on a job my company posted. You wouldve thought it was for the CEO spot. I showed my coworkers and we started cracking up. We only did like 5 of the 14 qualifications and had 1-2 of the requirements.

And :heh: at jobs wanting years of experience and a degree for entry level pay. If I've been doing it for years that means i know what the going rate is for my skill level.

houston.
I'm in the process of switching careers too well kinda into a different field from where I'm at. Its definitely hard out there trying to get a gig that requires so much for the position even for an entry level position. Been on the networking shyt but haven't crossed by any leads yet. I'm trying to stay optimistic, hopefully something happens soon.
