He should run if he is able. In truth, despite all this the dem bench is weak outside Whitmer. AOC needs more time.

Well by all accounts Biden wants to empower his VP the way Obama empowered him.

Giving someone an active of a role when they are significantly younger than you would logically result in them being your heir apparent even if you planned in serving two terms...

Like I said, there are no legitimate complaints a Biden supporter can levy against Harris that cannot be thrown back at Biden. If this is their best shot then they should have kept it to themselves.

He’s not announcing Aug. 1. They pretty much moved it to the first full week of August. Also if she was the pick you would hold doing that together. The people ready to give with her involved are likely to give more if she’s the selection.

1. They're in line to be POTUS if something happens to the current president. Considering Biden's age, he could easily have a health problem at some point and have to step down. So you want a VP that could do the job.

2. The other thing is 2024. Biden will likely be a one term president and whoever the VP is will be looked at as the frontrunner for the Dem nomination.


Basically it just comes down to who would do the best job as actual president if it came to that, and who would put the Dems in the best position for 2024.

1a. Even if Biden doesn't kick the bucket, his VP will probably have a large seat at the table when big decisions are being made. As VP, Biden was a critical voice for convincing Obama to back off the Syrian red line threat. If he'd chosen someone in lockstep with the hawkish Clinton-Powers foreign policy consensus, someone like Susan Rice, it's likely things would have turned out differently.
