I used to think this too, but I was listening to a podcast where the cat explained If they're already paying over a 2 billion per year what's another $40 million on an announcing team? Especially it takes away one of the major complaints about their broadcast plus the NFL is going to make sure they get better games based on that duo and that ESPN is committing resources to the property. If you're being objective Joe and Troy may not be your favorite, but they're always good.
What podcast was this? I don’t see how this helps ESPN at all. They are paying for two broadcast teams, when it's the only game being played. The ratings are built in.

When they spent the money to get MNF, they got wack games. Why would the NFL give them better games because a new crew was hired?

Troy and Joy left for a bag and somebody going to get a marginally smaller bag to replace them :wow:

My oldest son already tall but might have to take the basketball out this little big nikka hands and put a microphone in it :wow:

Getting paid to talk about players more than the players get played to play :wow:
