I don't think he had control over the tape release.

They fought against it ever being released.

Video of Joe Mixon knocking white broad out 2 years ago

University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon on Friday had his attorney make public the surveillance video that shows him punching another student, Amelia Molitor, in July 2014.

Mixon also had his attorney release a second surveillance video from the same night.

It may have been inevitable that the video would be released at some point, but it was Mixon who chose to release it in December. The thinking at the time (what I gathered from that thread) was that he released it in December so that it would blow over by time teams had to draft him. If he didn't release it, someone else would have near draft time to hurt his chances. He chose to release the video because he intended to declare.

It may not have blown over in Oklahoma, but it has nationally and will continue to be diminished with the Trump shyt show and all the other national sporting news (national championships, super bowl, etc). Who cares if Oklahoma is still fixiated on it, they don't have an NFL team
