Yeah but this whole topic is musically tinged, Joey even says this right after the OT Gen line. He's not assassinating his character/ disrespecting him as a man or anything. He's taking a shot at him for falling in line with the typical Hip Hop artists nowadays making the same generic music with the same generic beats tagged with ABC bars and a brain dead hook that can get spins at parties. Joey Bada$$ is clearly in this game for the long haul, this is a guy who is going to have multiple albums and a long career if he decides to smarten up a little bit.
joey badass music is extremely generic, it just isn't current generic.

Lol @ singling out a black artist. How many non black artists are making mainstream music about being crack/coke/Molly dealers on the regular? Furthermore, even if a whole crew of Miley Cyrus's did make that music, the fukk that got to do with the black community and the music we make!
:salute: to joey that nikka dude will eventually win he only 20 and gets the big picture but it remains 40 year old cops like rick ross whipping e-work are more relatable to joey's peers:mjlol:
cacs got these nikkas ears trained to reject any music or communication amongst ourselves that dont include black on black violence or drug taking and selling. nikkas is brainwashed and dont even know it when subconsciously black empowerment is:scust: to them. it seems like a lifetime ago when pac said "marvin gaye used to sang to me he had me feeling like black was the thing to be":mjcry: now dudes is being raised on OT genassis and bobby shmurda. so many lost nikkas will lower there standards to even bang shyt like miley cyrus because it "slaps" in the whip:snoop:

Some people will clown him for the revolutionary mindstate without a plan, but I love to see young dudes with this mindset as well as the ones who wanna fun even if its naïve or not.

i'd like more musicians making the kind of music they want to make and not the kind they think the industry wants or what some guy with a vague definition of 'revolutionary' wants of them

Joey said some of the realest shyt I've ever heard in one song...forgot the name..maybe ill put it in my sig later when I have time

i slept on his mixtape ...due to me being a herb during the time and I was tired of people spittin on Dooms beats pretending they were original beats.but then i realized...i would spit on Dooms beats my damn self so yeah

profound statement but it isn't strong enough...we need something that is earth shattering...and soul bending in 2014

shyt is beyound real

Was wondering would Coco work as a song if you kept everything exactly the same but changed the lyrics to have some kind of message or something positive. Would people still rock with it? Has anyone every tried it?
It wouldn't work, I don't think.

i think it could. the coco beat has a dark and grimey tone/mood. thats why it would appear that the only message that could go well with it is one of equally "dark" measure. but i think that if someone were talented enough you could send a positive message, but itd have to be indirect so it doesnt sound sanctimonious or overly preachy. I think the most recent version that comes to mind is kendrick's "swimming pools" That song ultimately has a postive message, warning of the dangers of alcohol. BUt it was somewhat hidden behind a super catchy/gimmicky hook and menacing beat. :jawalrus:

even though you sound a lil condescending, i somewhat agree with you on this. in the information age you have unlimited access to music/leaders/information. An artist doesn't need super mainstream success for you to find them and follow them.
