I respect him as an actor.
I feel the megaphone speech at the rally was contrived.
"I'm not sure I'll have a career after this".
That part never added up to me. What he was protesting against was directly in line with what Hollywood liberals were protesting against at that moment.
Again, good actor, and he comes across as genuine and candid in most interviews. Just didn't buy that rally speech.
Understandable, but how many times have Hollywood liberals escaped punishment while black actors doing the same thing are blackballed?
To me he was just acknowledging that more then anything.

When see-through "pro black" posters expose their shut up and dribble mentality. Love to see itthe one he's in isn't about the mangrove 9, that was the first one. it's 5 different stories. he plays leroy logan. Leroy Logan - WikipediaHe is starring in Small Axe on BBC, directed by Steve Mcqueen.
Based on the story of the Mangrove nine.
Black excellence as always.

Agreed it's trendy. That doesn't mean it's insincere. A lot of people yell in the darkness for change but it often only happens under the right circumstances, and by someone with the right charisma. That's just life. If it moves the dial in our favor I don't care who the messenger is.You and I are both Black. Police brutality and murder are going be important issues for us until we pass from this world. But for a segment of the world, this is the trendy "movement" to get behind and support
People in the entertainment industry who promote what the power brokers and gatekeepers are promoting rarely if ever suffer punishment or backlash. People who go against the grain are the ones whose careers suffer.
In 2020, speaking out against police brutality and systemic racism isn't going against the grain.
