Wasn't sure whether this should go in arcadium or the booth but 2pac is hip hop so I feel he belongs here.

After falling off the project two years ago, all eyes are on John Singleton to return to Morgan Creek’s untitled Tupac Shakur biopic — a film he’s long wanted to make.

Singleton has closed a deal to re-write, direct and produce the biopic about the iconic rapper, which would follow his rise to being one of the most popular hip-hop artists as well as his untimely murder following a boxing match in 1996 in Las Vegas. Morgan Creek is co-financing the film withEmmett/Furla/Oasis.

“Tupac was the guy who I planned to do a lifetime of films with,” Singleton said. “His passing deeply affected my life as well as countless people in this world. His life story is as important to my generation.”

The next move is to find the actor to play Shakur. Singelton will soon dive into rewriting the script, with hopes of beginning production sometime this June.

Singleton had once been linked to the project, but the deal fell through and the film has been in limbo ever since. James G. Robinson and David Robinson, along with Program Pictures’ L.T. Hutton, are also producing the pic.

Singleton's got the juice now, but who should play Pac?

Michael B Jordan?Anthony Mackie?:patrice:...glad John Singeltons taking over, fuk these chumps who wasted everybodys time before:camby:.

Yeah Fuqua is a good director but I feel like if anyone can tell the story the right way, its Singleton. Although one could argue he was too close to Pac to tell the story objectively. I feel like they'll go for Michael B. Jordan because he's the "it" guy right now and didn't Mackie play him in Notorious?

The actor doesnt have to closely resemble Tupac in order to play the part....

Word. They said the problem initially was finding a guy who could pull off the charisma. It's gotta be a good actor who can pull off all facets of Pac and do it convincingly for an entire generation that grew up looking at him and listening to him

tbh, its a bunch of young, talented, hungry black actors that could easily play the part.

Hopefully, Singleton give everyone a chance instead of just picking a popular black hollywood actor.

Anthony Mackie was terrible as Tupac to be honest.

I think Singleton is good at casting actors and definitely has no problem casting a wide net. It will probably need to be an unknown
