So I watched this segment and I find his ideas and thoughts very boring and uninteresting tbh. Not out of partisan reasons, but because that is my feeling when listening with as an objective ear as possible. Essentially "you have to risk offending people to discuss ideas" is the bulk of his argument. Ok? This the new intellectual giant?
The problem with the internet is that it gives you a myopic view of reality. You get exposed to news stories that are selected because they are considered "newsworthy". These days this is usually stories that get people riled up or drive people to have a divisive debate
This idea that free speech on a wide-scale is being suppressed and curtailed has been shown to be false and exaggerated through studies.
Everything we think about the political correctness debate is wrong
You just had a guy elected who was embraced for supposedly "telling it like it is" and not only that, the suppose left media gave him hours and hours of free air time to rant and rave about whatever topic he want because they also benefited from the "outrageousness". At my school, they have conservative speakers including Zionist shill Ben Shapiro speak and the people who were interested in hearing him speak and the few who had an issue with his ideas attended while most people on campus went about their days concerning themselves with their day to day school work and studying for tests.
Ideas aren't being suppressed and often when people think their ideas are being suppressed they confuse strong disagreement as suppression. Anecdotal incidents does not make a whole.
