Legendary trainer and current ESPN pundit Teddy Atlas suggested to Sirius XM’s Boxing Radio Show this week that the team behind British heavyweight Anthony Joshua should be arrested if they allow him to fight American WBC champion Deontay Wilder next rather than fulfil mandatory obligations.

Joshua was given a 30-day window by the WBA to arrange a bout against mandatory opponent Alexander Povetkin following his 12-round unanimous decision defeat of Kiwi Joseph Parker in early April.

However, that window has expired with no sign of Joshua being stripped of his title as the boxing world’s attention turns to a potential ‘super-fight’ between unified champion Joshua and WBC belt-holder Wilder.

When asked whether AJ should focus on fighting the hard-hitting American next, Atlas told the station that: "Wilder can do one thing. He can punch like a son of a gun! Why would you risk that if you can fight anybody?"

He then continued: "Joshua’s people should be arrested if they put him in there with him right now!"

I didn't watch the video but...isn't Teddy Atlas the same one constantly bytching about the nature of the sport? Like, I understand that business-wise, this is likely the smart move. But it still rings a little hypocritical coming from him.
Teddy atlas is a lying ass hypocrite.
Never trust a word that piece of shyt says.

For good reason..he keeps winning.
Yeah but he's fought like 1 top 10 ranked fighter in 40 fights, never fought a champion and never unified, compared to a Joshua who's fought about 5 top 10 ranked fighters, two world champions a future hall of famer and unified 4 belts in half the amount of fights as Wilder, it's a poor record for a man that's been a professional fighter for a decade.

Wilder is easily hit and if Joshua connects it's game over...Wilder has terrible technique and will find it harder hitting Joshua clean than Joshua will IMO.

If Wilder gets KO'd within 6 rounds his career isn't worth shyt.

London, and Somalia
LOOOOOL wilder has thought no one but bums, and an old ortiz. He was saved by the "inspection" after barely surviving the round. AJ has fought everyone, and won (breazeale, parker, klit, whyte). Wilder has a punchers chance, but AJ is a big puncher too, and is a better boxer.
