July 11, 2014
Julian Knott shot his wife Alita
Although the trend has gone largely unreported in mainstream news, bankers across the globe have been taking their own lives at an alarming rate. In yet another suicide, JP Morgan Director Julian Knott gunned down his wife Alita before taking his own life. His is the 15th suicide of a financial services executive in recent months.
The International Business Timesreports that friends said Mr. Knott, 45, and his wife Alita, 47, were “always acting like newlyweds.”
The couple met in London but Julian moved to the United States in 2010 where he served at JP Morgan’s Global Network Operations Center in New Jersey.
“Through an extensive investigation conducted by the Jefferson Township Police Department, the Morris County Prosecutors Office and the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office the preliminary investigation has revealed that the two adults died as a result of gunshot wounds and the incident has been determined to be a murder/suicide,” read a statement from police.
“This preliminary investigation revealed that Julian Knott, age 45, shot his wife Alita Knott, age 47, multiple times and then took his own life with the same weapon.”
Their daughter Kayleigh, a college student, posted her thoughts on social media.
“Although I am heartbroken that they will never see me graduate college, will never be there to see me get married or to be grandparents for my children, I can still have my inner peace knowing that they are now stress-free in a much better place,” she wrote.
The couple had two teenage sons as well.
