J.R. Smith of New York Knicks fined $5,000 for Game 1 flop - ESPN New York
The NBA on Friday announced that Smith, who is mired in an extended shooting slump, was fined $5,000 for committing a flop during Game 1 of the Knicks-Pacers series.
Smith was guarding Indiana's Lance Stephenson when he ran into a screen set by David West. Smith took contact from West and threw his arms up, exaggerating the impact of the screen. Referees ruled it an offensive foul on West and gave the Knicks the ball.
Smith is the third player to be fined for flopping in the postseason. Indiana's Jeff Pendergraph and Oklahoma City's Derek Fisher have also been fined.
