He been underpaid his whole career, settling for 5 and 6 million dollar salaries.

Oh and he played better than $100 million man Kevin Love in the finals. He need to get his money, this might be his last chance to get a big contract

A couple things are at play.

1.) Cavs are bidding against themselves. They know he doesn't want to go anywhere.

2.) They haven't finilazed their roster yet and signing JR puts them over the tax apron and they be hard capped which will limit their ability to trade.

:ohhh: Now this I was unaware of. What is that limit?

Right now they are at $114-116...going over $122 puts them above the tax apron. The CBA restricts the use of use trade exceptions when you go over that amount. And the Cavs have a bunch of exceptions they might still want to use.

They don't know who their back up PG is and they don't have a real center on the roster.
