Yeah that $440M sounds great but he wants a per year salary well over $30M. He'd probably be able to get way more money down the road if he produces at that level.

one of the rare guys I’d trade the Martian for.
Plus it’s the Nationals, so lord knows they’d stretch that money out like crazy with deferrals.
He's been pretty much the only bright spot for the Nats this season. I'd hate to see him go, but if he can get more money elsewhere...

I get that it’s not like the NBA one guy can’t carry your team and you could argue spreading money around instead of giving one guy as good as he is a huge contract is the way to go but he’s an incredible player and only 23 the Nats should give him whatever he wants
