I went to one of the schools you listed from a CC, the only thing I would note is that you got to be focused in CC to even look at those schools. In terms of competition CC is 20x easier than going straight to college. It can be the right path for many who never had a path before. That was my situation, I got a 1.5 GPA and a 1100 out of 2400 on the SAT. So going to CC was a blessing in disguise.

I had a classmate who went from BMCC to Columbia, but that is the rare exception and probably not as prevalent as we would like. I think for a lot of average students who don't have the grades but are conscientious CC is a good route, but dominant narratives about "campus experience" may undermine taking that route.
