They were raw, gritty, and told the stories of young men trying to obtain something more than what they were given. Those four films were New Jack City, Boyz n the Hood, Menace II Society, and Juice. Boyz n the Hood was shot better to me and it dealt with a lot of themes, all the single parent stuff, importance of a father figure etc. that was some real shyt.
Menace is probably my favorite because it's the most raw depiction of what was going on in Watts at the time
