Just Bought this new Gateway Desktop

I needed to replace my old tower that I've had for 10 years that finally gave out. I pretty much just need a media center, burn DVD's, and surf the net.

My only concern is I don't know if Gateways have a history of being garbage and dieing early and glitching up all the time. Also is Windows 8 gonna be a harsh transition for me? I've been stuck on XP forever now.

Breh, Props on this link. My folks have a fairly new desktop with good specs that basically unusable right now. They don't do nothing but browse the net, but that PC is so sluggish for no reason at all, shyt is maddening.

it's a i3 with 6GB of RAM..those aren't great specs at all, even at that price point.

Seems fine to me. If you're not liking the new UI with Windows 8, just install classic shell to get your start menu back and have it boot straight to desktop mode:

You can do a relatively easy RAM update when you have the money and have a respectable machine that'll last you for years and give you a little wiggle room to update components.

I don't disagree, I just feel the Gateway leaves him stuck with those specs forcing him to upgrade again in the next couple years.

I use an Apple Laptop most of the time, I just need a PC based media hub for movie/video torrent downloads & streaming to my PS3. I would like to leave the summabich on all the time nonstop though. But if this gateway gonna give out, I might need to treat it with kid gloves.
