Firstly, I stopped going to networking events two years ago, because it’s majority white people, and I was partially going to make friends, and I was freshly single and looking to meet women, along with networking for business.
BUT, I stopped letting my emotions cloud my potential money making opportunities.
For this event, I didn’t get an alcoholic beverage, because I wanted to stay focused, and not be TOO open.
One of the speakers said something that gave me a lightbulb moment.
“Doubt is created by the expectations of others.”

I think that’s especially true in the age of reality tv, and social media where people sometimes will sacrifice their own needs and happiness in order to please others, or be what they think someone else wants them to be. Then you expect other people to be exactly what you want them to be, and when they aren’t, you expect them to change for you.

That was a good eye opening moment that I probably heard before, but in another context.
I also stayed away from the photographers at the event that want to photograph random groups of people. I do this mostly because I stopped taking pics with white people. Why? Every time one of them goes viral for saying something racist, people go to their social media, and look at their photos. I don’t want my black ass in their photos like:

I just don’t want my image out there with random people.
