I rarely watch movies, so I'll take your word for it
movie spoilers ahead
a bunch of kids go missing, but only one is left, the police are grossly incompetent. the story initially focuses on the teacher and what shes going through and how the town hates her and how shes coping with alcoholism,
then it focuses on a dad whos trying to figure out where his son went and hes real close to cracking the case.
then the focus changes to the ex boyfriend cop of the teacher who has anger issues as well as infidelity issues sleeping with the teacher while trying to get his wife pregnant. he eventually runs across a basehead who he ends up assaulting after getting stabbed with one of his needles. he lets him go after realizing hes on tape doing it, but threatens to do something to him if he sees him again. as his home life and work life fall apart(the chief of police is his father in law) he goes out for patrol and sees the junkie again and gives chase.
the story then focuses on the junkie whose breaking in anywhere(keep your doors locked people!) and lying to his sibling about needing money to start a new job. he eventually comes across the survivor kids house and breaks in to case the place. he goes to the living room to find the parents of the kid blankly sitting on the couch like zombies. instead of leaving the house he continues to ransack the place, stealing silverware. he goes to the basement and find the missing kids. instead of going straight to the police he pawns off the silver, and sees a flyer for info for info on the whereabouts of the kids for 50k. he tries to go to the police station where he sees the cop that punched him in the face and we go back to the end of his segment, the cop chases the junkie to his tent enclosure and the junkie sees a clown waving at him(which has been appearing in the dreams of the teacher and the dad) he goes into his tent thinking the clown is following him. he gets 3 used needles and is about to attack the next thing to open his tent, which happens to be the cop. the cop almost kills him until he tells the cop that he knows where the missing kids are. they go to the survivor kids house and the officer goes into the house. a bunch of hours later the druggie is mad because hes still trapped in the back of the cop car and its dark now. the door opens, and the cop runs outside, grabs the junkie and drags him into the house.
the story then focuses on the principal who been trying to put out the fire while being principal. earlier the teacher went to the house of the kid, and saw the windows having newspaper covering them, peeked inside a window and saw the parents sitting on the couch like zombies like the junkie did. she then calls the principal and tells him that he needs to do a wellness check. he gives in, and calls the parents to come to the school to talk. instead of the parents, the aunt shows up and says shes staying with them for the moment until his parents get better(mind you, the clowns that the others have been seeing are clearly her.) the principal says ok, but if he doesnt see the parents then hes gonna have to get the parents involved. later that day, the principal is having dinner with his husband and watching a nature show about parasitic fungus that attacks ants and controls them, when the aunt knocks on the door and gives some bullshyt story about being lost and missing the bus and having been lost and somehow making it to his house(mind you, he never told her where he lived) the principal is apprehensive but his husband lets her in. she assures that the principal didnt contact the authorities then uses blood magic(a branch with something of the principals wrapped around it, covered it in her blood, then broke it) this causes the principal to be under her control and she makes him attack his husband, spitting up[ bile at him and then headbutting him until his head his caved in. then she makes the principal go after the teacher. he runs across town to where the teacher and the dad are having a confrontation in the gas station and attacks the teacher. the dad helps to try to keep him off of her, but the principal is on her ass. after evading her, she gets in her car and drives off while the principal gives chase (and manages to keep up pretty well) not paying attention, he runs into traffic and gets smashed by a car, leaving his brains splattered on the street. the dad and the teacher decide to join forces and the dad shows the map hes made of two children running in the direction of what he thinks is a receiver antenna, the teacher tells him that they arent going to the antenna, but the survivors kids house where the routes intersect.
then we cut to the survivor kids story, who we found out was being bullied by the dads son. he gets picked up by the dad that tells him that theyre gonna be taking care of his moms aunt, because shes sick, and that you always help family. she comes in the night and later that night the kid peeks into her room to see her looking back at him. the next morning he gets dropped off at school by his dad and tell shim he'll pick him up. after school his dad is nowhere to be found so he walks home. he gets home and his parents are sitting at the table still. they arent answering him and hes upset at the aunt. she does her blood magic again and makes the parents pick up a fork and stab themselves in the face as a deterrent to keep him in line. he is then left to take care of his parents by feeding him soup while his aunt is doing god knows. she eventually tells him that she needs the boy to get personal things of all the kids in his class and that she'll leave him alone after she gets better. he takes the personalized name markers off of the kids cubbies and gives them to his aunt. she uses them to draw all the kids from their homes in the middle of the night and makes them run to his home and into the basement where she appears to somehow feed on them. the survivor kid has to know take of his parents as well as the other kids. the police come by, but his aunt moves the kids elsewhere and the police are no longer an issue. the kid is going to the store and buying cans of soup for his parents and the other kids and is manually feeding them. when then cut to after the incident with the principal and the aunt tells the kid to get his stuff together because theyll be leaving soon. then the teacher and dad go to the house. the teacher sees her ex' car parked out front and they go in. the aunt uses the cop and the junkie to attack the two while she has a line of salt across the floor and tells the kid not to cross it. while everyone is distracted with the 4 downstairs fighting. the kid crosses the salt line and steals the plant that shes been using as a conduit. crossing the line activates the parents like an alarm and they go in to try to kill the kid, he runs into his room and locks the door. after they took care of the cop and junkie, the aunt took control of the dad and was having him attempt to kill the teacher. meanwhile, as the parents are knocking his door in, the kid replicates the spell that his aunt used but instead uses it to control the kids to chase and kill the aunt. she instantly becomes aware and goes on the run, in a yakety sax/benny hill esque comedy section as she runs through the neighborhood looking for help and the kids mindlessly bash their way through doors and windows to get to her. eventually they reach her and proceed to tear her apart. the aunt dying stops his parents as well as the dad of the kid. the kids parent go into an institution, and its said that some of the kids eventually begin to talk again. theres a bunch of thematic stuff that ive missed, but thats the bare bones story

it was a good 8/10 movie
